Through my work, I have assessed countless fitness classes, all over this country and abroad, as reviews for leading sports journals. Very rarely does a new exercise class excite me. However, I was invited by a leading sports magazine to review Michael Ross's new KETTFusion classes ( which he instructs at Stockport Sports Village, Lifeleisures flagship sports complex, and Hatton's Gym in Hyde, and various private venues) He is a showman, a very athletic showman, and his class, which I attended, was like a clean breath of fresh air. His style of instructing is like no other I have come across. He doesn't bawl at you, on the contrary, he cajoles you, he coaches you, he somehow makes the whole experience exciting and fun, AND, his perfect blend of specially structured Martial Arts exercises, and clever use of Kettlebells, means you have a complete body and fitness workout. I met 2 runners in his class, who each have said they have started improving there PB's, a woman, who told me that finally, her post baby tummy, was whittling down and tightening up!, Somehow, he is able to instruct absolute beginners next to seasoned fitness fanatics. He even has Theme weeks, where , amongst the serious business of getting fitter faster, it really was fun to be there. When I went, the theme was 'The Beachboys' the playlist was Beachboys, and even for the 5 minute warm up, he had us surfing the imaginary waves of the coast of California, to the strains of the teem from 'Hawaii 5 0'.. And Michael, himself, had Bermuda shorts, Hawaiian T shirt and sunglasses, and, wait for it, even a body surfer! He has developed this system. It's going to be a big hit. It will go world wide, but it has to start somewhere, and for the lucky inhabitants of Woodley , Hyde and Stockport...it's on there doorstop! Put his classes on you 'bucket list' you will regret it if you don't!
